Had the most amazing mind blowing meal last night.

Indian tapas…… every single dish was full of taste and flavour… a taste sensation.  Beautifully presented and served.

Staff were very friendly and informative about the dishes.  Understood what we liked and advised accordingly.  I could not pick out a favourite dish, but “must try” are the Fried Chicken, the Bhel puri, raw mango, tamarind, sev, yogurt, Butter garlic crab, seaweed papad and the samphire pakoras, date & tamarind chutney, chilli garlic mayonnaise.

A great Menu inspired by Lee Westcott with perfectly matched wines from sommelier Fred Marti together with excellent service this was indeed a fantastic dining experience.

A lovely friendly welcome and a nice glass of champagne while we looked at the menu and as in previous visits we chose the Tasting Menu but this time we also chose to have matching drinks I say drinks because it was a mixture of wine & saki .

I do like the open kitchen and it’s amazing that despite so much going on to produce amazing food the kitchen was so quiet. I would definitely recommend a visit if you like modern food cooked to perfection & some great wine & service

Cafe Spice Namaste

We had a fantastic Indian meal at Cafe Spice Namaste in east London and its so different to your local restaurant. We experienced such an amazing array of stunning Indian flavours and spices that enhanced each dish. On arrival you get a nice friendly greeting then you get to see the menu and believe me you want to order everything as it all sounds fantastic. We in the end decided to go for the Tasting Menu which includes 3 glasses of wine and we were also told that it is actually unlimited food, so when you say stop they will then serve you Dessert to finish.

The exciting thing is that you don’t know what dishes you will be getting until it arrives, which to us was a great idea. We managed to survive 10 courses before surrendering and having Dessert .

So it all started with popadoms & dips followed by Samosa , potato cake , fish fingers , a sweet and crunchy rice , duck , chicken , prawns with spinach , salmon and cheese then to curry dishes of chicken and finally lamb that forced us into submission so we’re then served dessert to finish. This was a delightful spicy creme brûlée.

Most of the dishes were brought to us by our very friendly waitress Martina . I have to say I will definitely recommend a visit and I will be returning soon to sample more of Cyrus Todiwala’s dishes and those amazing flavours

Hawksmoor – Seven Dials

I was in London for a few days visiting family and met up with my daughter and son on Sunday to have lunch in the Soho area. Hannah suggested Hawkmoor at Seven Dials as she had been before and wanted to visit again.

Have to say it was a great choice, a great welcome and friendly service got us seated and drinks ordered.

This is one of the best place for beef/steak in London I have been to and I have tried most. If you are nearby  on a Sunday try the Sunday Roast, and be sure to save some room for their Sticky Toffee Pudding! Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

I would like to thank the Sommelier for a fantastic selection of matching wines that just went perfectly with every course also to every member of staff who’s service was exceptional. I hope that Midsummer House soon gets a third Michelin Star because based on this visit they certainly deserve them.

Had been meaning to visit The Palomar restaurant for a while now to try a new type of cuisine from the heart of Jerusalem and I have to say I’m very glad to have done so.

It’s a small but very friendly place as you walk in they have a walk in service where you can sit at the counter and watch the chefs work but we were lead through to the dining area at the back which was very nice & cozy. Our waitress Olge was excellent asking us if we’d been before then took us through the menu advising us of how many courses from each section we should order.

We started with the Rip & Dip section where we had the most amazing Bread & dips along with Fish Falafel. We then had the special of the day which was a lovely dish that included White Crab Meat just stunning then onto the larger of the sharing menu dishes to which we had the amazing Octo-Hummus and the fantastic Jerusalem Mix with a side order of Josperised Aubergine plus a Fattoush Salad.

FullSizeRender FullSizeRender FullSizeRender FullSizeRender

All the dishes have this delicate charcoal, nutty and slightly creamy texture but taste delicious Now on to my favourite course of any meal Dessert and we weren’t let down in anyway we decided to go for the sharing dessert called a Jerusalem Mess which was fantastic but me being me I couldn’t settle for that and when I saw they had a Chocolate Fondue with Peanut Brittle I couldn’t resist and I’m so glad I didn’t it was gorgeous.

Lunch at The Rum Kitchen – Carnaby Street

Posted on

Jerk chicken, pulled pork and Caribbean rum. What more could you want from a week day lunch?

When spoilt for choice at Soho’s Kingly Court on a Thursday lunch time, with the distinct memory of amazing sweet potato fries taking over your thoughts, The Rum Kitchen is an option that’s hard to avoid. The laid back, Caribbean island atmosphere let’s you forget you’re minutes away from busy Oxford Street, and the cheerful staff, colourful decor and soothing sounds, create a relaxing, vibrant buzz.

We were a little pressed for time so went straight for mains, and sides of course! It was impossible to choose just one dish so we shared the Twist burger and pulled pork bun (not the easiest things to cut in half), plus the coleslaw and fries, a good decision in my opinion! The ‘Twist’ jerk chicken burger was spicy enough to make a generous portion of creamy coleslaw a definite must but so tasty it was lucky we cut it in half first! The pulled pork, in a light brioche bun, was tender, juicy and full of flavour, everything you could ask for!

Due to the fact it was lunch time, and there was probably a little work left to do post food, we restricted ourselves to one drink. A refreshing Banks Caribbean lager and a rum and coke. They washed our food down nicely but I couldn’t help scanning through the exotic cocktail list! I’ll definitely be coming back to try out a few of those!

The menu at The Rum Kitchen may not be huge but it’s executed brilliantly! The service was great throughout our visit starting with a warm welcome at the door and huge smiles from anyone we spoke to. Our food arrived in good time, and was hot (small things that can change your whole perception of a good quality meal).

We also, after a little bit of confusion and help from our kind waitress, managed to get the Cake app working. If you haven’t heard of it check it out, we were able to split our bill, pay separately, and even gained £5 off each!

Thank you for the delicious afternoon The Rum Kitchen!
