Had the most amazing mind blowing meal last night.

Indian tapas…… every single dish was full of taste and flavour… a taste sensation.  Beautifully presented and served.

Staff were very friendly and informative about the dishes.  Understood what we liked and advised accordingly.  I could not pick out a favourite dish, but “must try” are the Fried Chicken, the Bhel puri, raw mango, tamarind, sev, yogurt, Butter garlic crab, seaweed papad and the samphire pakoras, date & tamarind chutney, chilli garlic mayonnaise.

Very reasonable prices and a lovely vibrant restaurant. Felt very at home and comfortable, could have stayed all evening.

The menus features popular Mumbai street foods such as the Bhel Puri – a tasty  snack of puffed rice, gram flour sticks with potatoes,  chickpeas, tomatoes and red onions.

My main of Indian Summer Nariyali Swordfish steak in a coconut, chilli, mint & yoghurt marinade served with roasted fennel potatoes, mixed salad and cumin raita was outstanding.  This was followed by an excellent Chilli & Chocolate Sponge with vanilla ice cream Mango Bruleé with shortbread .

On a different planet to the Bangladeshi fast food curry houses that populate every high street in the UK which serve ersatz Indian foods, which their chefs would never eat at home.

Chutney Mary, Kings Road, Chelsea

I recently went to Chutney Mary Kings Road, Chelsea to celebrate a friends birthday.

The decor and layout of the restaurant is beautiful. We were able to sit in the conservatory and I would recommend requesting this. The service was brilliant and most importantly, the food was beautiful.

For starters we ordered a selection of dishes including a straw potato basket filled with street favourites, yoghurt and chutney, pan seared scallops and tandoori paneer. The presentation of the dishes coupled with the great flavours made this a very special start to the meal.

For main course we had a selection of curries and a chicken tikka dish. It was all delicious and the best Indian meal I have tasted.

This was my first time visiting the restaurant and although not the cheapest meal, this was definitely worth the money, especially for a special occasion. I would recommend Chutney Mary to anyone.
